Laptops Every Student Needs To Consider Buying In 2019!

Updated: Oct 23, 2019

While almost all students in college dream of getting expensive laptops like the MacBook etc. They fail to realize that they don't actually need expensive laptops like these for their everyday work. You could spend around $1,000 on any of the latest premium laptops and walk away with a good machine.

But purchasing a mainstream or budget laptop remains a crapshoot, even today. But fortunately there are some laptops that are both cheap as well as good for most of the work which require a good laptop. These laptops are one of them and while they do have there Pros and Cons, they are the best solution for students on a budget looking for a good laptop.

ACER ASPIRE 5

i7-7500U

15.6"-1920 x 1080

8 GB RAM

1 TB STORAGE

$600

This is a great device for students who not only want to get a laptop for school, but also want to do some light gaming.Basically,It's an inexpensive regular looking 15 inch laptop that can handle current gaming titles reasonably well because of the video card.

It has an MX 150 from Nvidia which is kind of like the GT 1030 and most current gaming titles are very playable on this machine with Overwatch at 93 FPS,Dota 2 at 88 FPS,Rocket League at 61 FPS and Rainbow Six Siege 6 at 64 FPS at 1080p.The configuration with the MX 150 costs 600 usd (which varies with various models) and is a great laptop for the money.

Now there are two things that might be an issue for the students.

First is the battery life, you'll only get around 5 to 6 hours of battery life so if you want to bring it to school and you have a full day of class, you're gonna have to bring your charger with you.

The second thing is that it's not super thin or light. It's 2.2 kg,about 38.1 x 26.3 cm of area and 21.6 mm thick. Its not like a really thick gaming laptop, but its has some size to it.

Now if you are looking for something that's a little thinner and lighter and is still a good price point, its the next one.

LENOVO 320s

i7-7200U 14"-1366 x 768

8 GB RAM

250 GB STORAGE

$550

So this thing starts at 500 usd for the base model, its 1.7 kg,38.0 x 27.7 cm area and 19.3 mm thick. Its a full aluminum built but the chasis has some flex to it.The bottom panel is easy to open up for upgrading the RAM and storage.

The screen is a little dim and the base model isn't a 1080p screen. Its not bad though, videos and pictures still look really sharp at normal viewing distances. The keyboard is comfortable to use but there is no backlighting.

The trackpad uses Windows precision drivers which are really good and the battery life is surprisingly good as well. You'll get around seven to eight hours of battery on this laptop.

This thing comes in a couple of configurations. It starts around at 500$ to 550$ depending on sales, but overall a great device for students.

Now the last one isn't the cheapest, but its really good for the money.

ASUS UX330

i5-7200U 13.3"-1920 x 1080

8 GB RAM

256 GB STORAGE

$670

This is the successor of the ASUS UX306 and this thing is surprisingly good for the money. Now its not super cheap, its 670 usd but still its worth a look.

This thing has a great build quality and a pretty simple design. Its has two regular USB ports,a USB C and a micro HDMI.It has a good screen 1080p matte finish and it gets preety bright. Also has a nice back lit keyboard and Windows precision trackpad.Tracking is really good on the surface and its a nice texture.

The speakers on this thing are really good. They're located on the bottom and,for this price its kind of crazy how good the speakers sound. They Have Harman Kardon branding, but usually having branding like this for a laptop doesn't mean anything, they usually sound very average, but these actually sound good.It sill doesn't have strong bass, but its a very clean audio and you'll be happy with these speakers.

Its a 13 inch screen and a little bit smaller than the other two laptops mentioned above. So depending on what you do or what you want to do with your laptop this might be too small, but if you're looking for a 13 inch device you're on the money.

The one problem with this laptop is actually the fan noise. It comes on often when doing intensive stuff on the laptop. They may fix it with with an update but so far nothing has been done. But other than that, its a great laptop for students.

Now it comes around at 670 bucks and its not something that is for someone looking for the cheapest laptop, there are going to be cheaper laptops than this but if you're in the market for some kind of a higher-end like an XPS 13 or an HP Envy, those are going to cost you 900 bucks or more. This thing is a lot less but a really good laptop.

That's all.All three of these machines have their pros and cons depending on what you want to do with it as your everyday work.Either way, these are the best laptops for students for their everyday work at college or at home.

NOTE:The prices may vary depending on when you are reading the article.
